DETAILED INFORMATION

In order to obtain superior strength and chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance, LDX 2101 is a low nickel, lean duplex stainless steel, that is designed with superior strength and chloride stress-corrosion cracking resistance, which is much better than stainless steels of the 300 series.

With a high chromium and nitrogen content, along with a high molybdenum content, LDX 2101 alloy is ideally suited for general-purpose applications. Its localized and uniform corrosion resistance is excellent due to the high chromium and nitrogen content of this alloy.

There is no doubt that LDX 2101 is a very good substitute for stainless steel grades 304 and 304L because of its low nickel content and the fact that this alloy has good fatigue strength, chloride pitting resistance, and good machinability and welding properties.

In addition to being a 21.5% chromium, 5% manganese, 1.5% nickel, 0.45% molybdenum lean duplex stainless steel, LDX 2101 (UNS S32101) also has corrosion resistance that is superior to 304L and comparable to 316L. As compared to conventional 300 series stainless steels, LDX 2101 is both more robust and resistant to chloride stress-corrosion cracking than conventional 300 series stainless steels.

Its higher mechanical strength enables LDX 2101 to be used in thinner cross-sections, which can result in significant cost savings for the end user. LDX 2101 has been designed to be a low nickel general purpose substitute for 304 and 304L steels.

As the name implies, S32101 Sheet is made from a stainless steel alloy known as Lean Duplex. It is one of three grades of duplex steel. Duplex steel is a combination of both austenitic and ferritic steel properties that combine to form a single alloy. In order to achieve this quality, alloying materials such as chromium, molybdenum, and nickel are added in appropriate quantities to Lean Duplex S32101 Plate. By adding these elements into Lean Duplex ldx 2101 A240 S32101 Strip provides the strength needed to be used for joints and welds. As a result of these properties, the LDX 2101 Duplex Stainless Steel Foil has the necessary corrosion resistance properties along with its light weight, which makes it an excellent cladding material for large metallic surfaces.

Due to its high weldability, ASTM A240 UNS S32101 Strip Tape can be utilized along welded joints due to its high weldability. Alloy LDX 2101 SA 240 S32101 Coil is commonly used for high pressure and high corrosion applications. Despite the high temperatures and hardening process, the Lean Duplex 2101 ASTM A240 gr S32101 Hot Rolled Plate does not require any additional annealing or hardening after machining or welding, since the plate has been processed at high temperatures and hardened without any further hardening. Due to the pre-hardened nature of SS 2101 Steel ASTM A240 UNS S32101 Shim Sheet, it is a better choice for shims that require high tensile strength in tight joints that will withstand high tensions. As a result of its reduced corrosion locally and uniformly, 2101 Stainless Steel ASTM A240 S32101 Polished Plate is commonly used as the material for effluent tanks, storage containers, and liquid containers. There is no problem drawing SA 240 UNS S32101 Cold Rolled Plate under room temperature to obtain what you want.

General Characteristics

  • In comparison to 304, it is more corrosion resistant
  • In comparison to 304, the price is more stable
  • This is stronger and cheaper than 304 and 2.3 times stronger than 304.

Machinability

  • With high speed steel tools, cutting procedures are the same as with AISI 316 tools.
  • It is recommended that high-speed cutting tools with carbide tips be used in roughing operations and 20% less in finishing operations when cutting AISI 316.

Fabricability

  • It takes nearly two times as much force to initiate plastic deformation than it does with AISI 304L and 316L.
  • Beyond the yield strength of austenitic stainless steel, plastic deformation occurs as easily.
  • In most cases, it can be cold bent up to 25% deformation without requiring any subsequent heat treatment.
  • SCC is more likely to occur when bending is followed by annealing.
  • A hot bend should be carried out between 950 and 1100 degrees Celsius, followed by a quench annealing.
  • Although it can be expanded using normal expanding methods, a stronger initial force will be required and it should be completed in one operation.

Weldability

  • Welding can be accomplished using Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW) with covered electrodes, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Gas Metal Arc Cutting (GMCC).
  • It is recommended that the input temperature be in the range of 0.5 to 2.5 K1/mm
  • The temperature of the interpass should not exceed 150 degrees Celsius.
  • Heat treatment after welding is not normally required as a preheating process.
  • A standard filler metal is E2209 which is overalloyed with nickel.
  • Stainless steels, carbon steels, nickel alloys, and other stainless steels are readily welded.

Corrosion Resistance

  • When compared to AISI 316L and 317L, it offers better corrosion resistance in general
  • A262 Practice E-Strauss Test demonstrates that welded joints give no indication of intergranular corrosion. Welded joints easily pass this test.
  • At higher temperatures and chloride contents, this steel has better resistance to pitting and crevice attack.
  • 2101 is designed with a high strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance combination that provides superior corrosion fatigue resistance, erosion resistance, and corrosion resistance over most other materials.

TESTINGS (DESTRUCTIVE, NON DESTRUCTIVE):

  • Positive Material Identification, also known as PMI
  • An analysis of the chemical composition based on spectroscopy
  • A variety of mechanical tests are done, including tests for tensile strength, elongation, and area reduction

  • Test of macros
  • An evaluation of hardness
  • Performing a pitting resistance test
  • An Intergranular Corrosion Test (IGC) is performed
  • An evaluation of flares
  • An attempt at flattening
  • Hydraulic test
  • An examination of hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC), NACE TM0284
  • SSC is a type of stress corrosion cracking caused by sulfuric acid.
  • A radiography test is performed
  • Test for dye penetration (DP Test)
  • Tests using ultrasonic waves (UT)
  • Induction of Eddy Currents
