This grade of Titanium Grade 5 Square Bars is light in weight, corrosion resistant, and extremely strong, which makes it a good choice for many applications. There is no doubt that these Titanium Grade 5 Flat Bars are the most commonly used alloy, because they seem to be much stronger and heavier than other commercially pure titanium bars, yet still retain the same toughness and thermal characteristics (without thermal conductivity). In addition to being the most widely used titanium alloy of the alpha, plus, and beta sessions, these Titanium Grade 5 Threaded Bars are also the most communal of all titanium alloys. In addition, our Titanium Grade 5 Hollow Bars are also available to our customers in a variety of shapes and sizes. Although "commercially pure" titanium has acceptable mechanical properties and has been used for orthopedic and dental implants, these Titanium Grade 5 Hexagonal Bars are alloyed with small quantities of aluminum and vanadium, typically 6 % and 4 % respectively, for most applications. It is possible to enhance the mechanical properties of our Titanium Grade 5 Triangular Bars when they are processed and heated in order to make them suitable for fracture critical applications. This Titanium Grade 5 Bar is resistant to general corrosion, but oxidizing environments such as hydrofluoric (HF), hydrochloric (HCl), sulfuric and phosphoric acids may cause the protective oxide layer of the bars to break down very quickly.

 

This grade of titanium is also referred to as an alpha-beta alloy, and it has been commercially referred to as Ti 6Al-4V as well. Alloy Grade 5 Square Bar has the reputation of being the workhorse amongst all of the other titanium alloys, accounting for almost half of all titanium used around the world. As well as having a very low density, Titanium Grade 5 Round Bar is well known for its resistance to corrosion as well as its ability to be formed very easily.

The DIN 3.7165 Flat Bar is used in aerospace and medicine because it is light in weight, due to its low density. Another peculiar characteristic of the alloy is that any component, including ASTM B348 UNS R56400 Hex Bar, can be welded easily. In operations that require them to have a welded construction, it is possible to use the ASME SB 348 gr 5 Titanium Rod even at elevated temperatures of up to 600° F.

Besides being light in weight, grade 5 titanium threaded rod is also very formable due to the presence of aluminum and vanadium in the alloy. Since these elements are also very light in weight, they do not add more weight to the alloy. In general, alloying elements also change the density of metal. Since these elements are also lightweight, their inclusion in grade 5 titanium filler rod does not increase its weight.
